Are You at Risk for Mail Theft?
Imagine the panic you’d feel coming home, finding your mailbox empty and realize everything’s been stolen. Or the outrage you’d feel waking up to a smashed vandalized mailbox.
Thieves use your information to steal your identity. They take credit card offers from your mailbox and open accounts in your name. Your address gets changed. They go on spending sprees, rack up charges and your credit gets ruined. It can take years and untold frustration to get your good name back.
Now you’ve decided to protect yourself by getting a locking mailbox. Unfortunately, most mailboxes are built with flimsy material and poor design allowing crowbar break-ins and mail fishing.
We understand how vulnerable you feel.
That’s why at Steeltech we have developed unique security design features in our mailboxes. We use top grade, 16-gauge stainless steel for durability and added security. Once you have a secure mailbox installed you’ll experience the relief that security brings.

Frequently Asked Questions
WHY DO STEELTECH MAILBOXES COST MORE THAN OTHER LOCKING MAILBOXES ON THE MARKET?
Design, Materials, Quality Parts and Craftsmanship. Steeltech has done everything possible to bring you the best quality, the best product at the best price.
Security Design: Each mailbox is designed with extra security features: rolled edges, recessed doors, spot welding and re-enforced security plates.
Quality Parts: Stainless steel hinges, top of the line cam locks, custom designed clips and our own injection molded flags.
Craftsmanship: Each mailbox is individually spot welded and constructed by hand.
These four elements combined are what makes Steeltech Mailboxes your best value. No frills. And nothing cheap.
WHY ARE STEELTECH MAILBOXES SPOT WELDED?
All our mailboxes are assembled using a process called spot welding. Spot welding is relatively fast and efficient but more importantly, it is extremely strong. Two welded pieces of metal are fused together to become one unit. Bolts and rivets wear out, rust, come loose and can be pried open – a weld can’t. Welds make your mailbox stronger and more secure. The process of running a spot welder also has an old-fashioned feel that we enjoy. We leave the spot welds untouched to give our mailboxes a distinct look.
To learn about the technology behind spot welding check out the link below.
We use 304 grade stainless steel with a No. 2B finish to construct all our mailboxes. 304 stainless steel does not rust or corrode; even when exposed to tough conditions such as salty air or salty road grime. Stainless steel comes in several different types of finishes. The finish we use is called No. 2B and is primarily used in tough commercial conditions such as chemical holding, food handling, marine equipment, etc.
WILL MY MAIL CARRIER NEED A KEY TO DEPOSIT MY MAIL?
Mail carriers do not carry keys to open individual mailboxes; therefore, the outgoing mail cannot be secured in a locked compartment while awaiting pickup. You are the only one with a key. Your incoming mail is safely stored until you unlock the retrieval door.
IS OUTGOING MAIL SECURE?
No, outgoing mail is not locked or secured. (see question above). The mail you’re sending either sits on a tray or is secured by a clip, depending on which style mailbox you have.
We recommend you do not use the mailbox to send sensitive or confidential information: checks, money, payments, order forms, health information, banking information, credit card applications, etc.
WHAT UPKEEP IS NEEDED ON MY MAILBOX?
Good News! Almost none. If your lock or hinges begin to feel “sticky” over time, simply use some powdered graphite. Powdered graphite is readily available at your local hardware store. It comes in a small tube with narrow nozzle. The tube is a mix of graphite and air. Puff it into the lock or dust onto the hinges. Blow the excess off.
Your lock should be lubricated with the graphite periodically depending on weather conditions and climate. We do not recommend any of the following: soapy water, oil or WD-40.
